Tamia's 1st Essence Music Festival Superdome Performance

This past weekend, Tamia performed at Essence Music Festival in New Orleans for the first time. When I tell you she did not one but two shows amazingly back to back barely catching her breath in between both, you simply had to be there. Face Atelier, www.faceatelier.com, a canadian based makeup company, sent me some amazing products to ensure that Tamia not only looked good performing but that her makeup look stay put all day. One word, SOLD, there is no doubt that Face Atelier will be a permanent fixture in my kit.

Grammy ReImagined rendition of Patsy Cline's "Crazy" at Essence Music Festival. This video goes viral next week sometime via www.grammy.com

We went with a consistent base look altering eye and lip color for each appearance.
Embroylisse Moisturizer
MAC Natural Radiance Primer
Face Atelier Ultra Pro Foundation
Face Atelier Ultra Matte
Face Atelier Ultra Sheer in Champagne and Bronze
Face Atelier Camouflage Concealer in Medium
Makeupforever Aqua Eyes
Makeupforever Super Matte Loose Powder in #12
Iman Cosmetics Adorned Bronzer
Christian Dior Serum De Rouge
Face Atelier Lip Glaze

To achieve soft relaxed waves during the day or more coiled curls at night for performances, I used Solano Smooth Curl 450 irons sizes 1" and 3/4". These irons are the best. To make sure Tamis's hairstyles stayed put, I used Mizani-USA.com In-control Workable Holding Spirtz and Shyne Bodifying Sheen Spray. Both are Humidity and frizz Resistant. In Control is power-charged with thermal protective, flexible polymers to make sure your hair is protected from curling iron heat.

Marry Your Passion: The SoftSheen Carson Experience

This weekend was an amazing learning experience for me and 3 other Softsheen Carson/L'Oreal Paris winners of their "Make Me a Master Stylist" Contest. All winners submitted samples of their work and won an all expense paid trip to Washington, DC, one on one mentoring/training with, Johnny Wright, First Lady Michelle Obama's personal hairstylist, 1-year supply of Optimum Advanced Keratin Whipped Creme Relaxer system, 3-month career coaching sessions with Miki Wright, a Corioliss gift bag filled with flat irons, and so much more. The winning submissions: Demi
Brittainy
Majorie
Ana
Day 1: We toured the White House Together. This was such a bonding experience for all of us. Yene, Johnny Wright's RIGHT hand and a stylist in her own right, went on the tour with us. After the tour we had lunch at The W Hotel's rooftop restaurant POV. This gave us the opportunity to finally meet Johnny in person, ask questions and talk about this weekend's activities. Yene Damtew

Day 2: Part of the training with Johnny Wright was working a 13-person wedding party. Car service took us to the wedding location, where we met Johnny. As his team for the day, the pressure was on (so we thought) because neither of us never worked with him before. Johnny and Yene were hands on the whole entire time. His confidence in us translated into our work and he was very pleased. Wedding Inspiration
The Team At Work
Last Day: Today, our last day with Johnny, included a full day of one on one training: Johnny Wright (cut and round brushing), Kerry Durbin (color) and Yene Datew (weaving techniques, salon etiquette) at Immortal Beloved Salon, where Johnny works 2 to 4 times a month. This amazing salon is located at 1457 Church St, Washington, 20005.
I will never forget this weekend. SoftSheen Carson/L'Oreal Paris made it possible for us to learn from one of the beauty industry's best, Mr. Johnny Wright. Special thanks to Corioliss for supplying us with the K2 Professional Vapor Infusion, Baby SKE, and C1 Red Leopard irons along with the MIC Brush, and Large Round Brush. Last but not least, Johnny, you made me feel like I didn't want to leave you literally. How could someone so talented and well connected be so humble? He answered all of my questions without hesitation. WOW, enough said, a true professional that is so gifted.
